Compensation range: $129,144.04 - $147,644 Annually  

 

The base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.

Position Summary

Location:  On-Site at a Client Site, Bay Area

Shift: Monday - Friday, Day shift 

 

The Manager of Furniture Project Management is responsible for overseeing and coaching the Onsite Furniture Project Management team.  Provides direct management of the Sr. Project Manager Zone Leads and Project Coordination Lead, and indirect oversight/management of all other SFPM’s & FPM’s. Manages day-to-day operations of the department and assists in large scale/complex or Executive level projects. This role will partner with many cross-functional teams and stakeholders to enhance service levels, grow the division and drive innovation. Role includes opportunities to voice and provide strategic guidance in streamlining operational workflows, processes and services. This position reports to the Associate Director of Projects & Design.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Hire, manage and coach a growing team of Furniture Project Managers and Project Coordinators
  • Develop and monitor KPIs such as project responsiveness, punch list completion, and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee the distribution of project loads across the team using relevant reporting tools and dashboards, regarding status of the department
  • Maintain a library of standard procedures for site visits, field measurements, and furniture management processes. 
  • Establish best practice standards for specification, procurement, and installation. Revise and update Project Management training as necessary
  • Act as the lead for project management software, ensuring data integrity across all active projects.
  • Work in conjunction with other department managers to refine the hand-off between project managers and external/internal partners to drive continuous efficiencies. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor management partners, manufacturers, or general contractors when project-level issues escalate, and coordinate with respective teams to mitigate and resolve
  • Identify trends in cost-of-error and implement strategies to reduce wastes.
  • Engage in productive working sessions/meetings by bringing stakeholders to consensus while fostering operational excellence.
  • Conduct regular 1:1’s and performance reviews with Sr. FPM Zone Leads and Project Coordination Lead.
  • May manage some client projects due to complexity and visibility
  • May be assigned special projects as directed by core leadership team 

 

Qualifications:

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills (verbal/presentation/written).
  • Strong leader with a proven track record of mentoring, building and coaching teams.
  • Must be incredibly organized, with strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of furniture planning, moves and relocations, fleet management, furniture manufacturing, building management and current workplace issues.
  • Deep understanding of product and labor cost estimating
  • Must conduct business confidentially, at a high leadership level, taking accountability for the department.
  • Ability to read blueprints, conduct field verifications, site measurements and furniture/site surveys.
  • Must be able to analyze and problem solve, even with significant ambiguity.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Google Suite (Docs/Sheets/Slides), Microsoft Office, and other job related software as needed (ex. Smartsheets).
  • Experience with work order systems, inventory management systems (IMS) a plus.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Management, or Business Administration (or equivalent industry experience). 
  • 7-10+ years’ related experience in Contract Furniture or Commercial Interiors, with at least 3 years in a direct leadership or supervisory role. 
  • 7 - 10+ years’ high-level experience managing client relations and coaching project management teams, while establishing standardized project management policies, processes and methodologies.
  • Proven track record managing projects in specific sectors and understanding their unique compliance and installation standards. 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity, and ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices, ability to get to project sites.

 

Working Environment

  • Office environment, and related job sites as needed.
  • Nature of work may require working off-hours and significant time spent out of the office.
  • Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust and dirt.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and access to transportation to client sites around the Bay Area.
  • Nature of work may require working off hours and significant time (up to 50%) spent at client sites and other company offices.
