Compensation range: $69,543.71K - $79,478.53K Annually 

 

The base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.

Position Summary

Location:  Santa Clara, CA (on-site)

Hours: Day Shfit, Monday - Friday

 

The AV/Structured Cabling Field Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, testing, and supporting audio-visual systems and strucured cabling implementations at client sites. This role combines technical expertise with customer-facing service, ensuring high-quality delivery of AV/certified low voltage solutions such as conferencing systems, video walls, digital signage, sound reinforcement, control systems, unified communication platforms, and data management cabling/hardware solutions.


Essential Functions:

Installation & Setup

  • Install and commission AV equipment, including displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, control processors, networked AV devices, and structured cabling deployments.

  • Perform system wiring, terminations, rack building, and cable management.

  • Configure AV systems, including DSPs, matrix switchers, codecs, and control systems (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron).

  • Conduct on-site testing, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.

Technical Support

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for installed systems.

  • Diagnose and resolve AV, IT, and network integration issues.

  • Perform system upgrades, firmware updates, and preventative maintenance.

Project Execution

  • Work closely with project managers, programmers, and other engineers to execute installation plans.

  • Interpret construction documents, AV wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Document system configurations, test results, and service reports.

Client Interaction

  • Train end-users on system operation and provide ongoing client support.

  • Communicate technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Represent the company professionally in the field.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow job-site safety protocols and industry best practices.

  • Ensure installations meet quality standards and manufacturer specifications.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of AV technologies, signal flow, and system components.

  • Experience with AV control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron).

  • Familiarity with networked AV and basic IT/networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE).

  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and schematics.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to lift and handle equipment, climb ladders, and work on construction sites.

  • CAD certification and exposer to CAD/REViT

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as CTS/CTS-I, Crestron DMC-E, Extron or Biamp certifications.

  • Experience with unified communications platforms (Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Webex).

  • Knowledge of DSP programming (Q-SYS, Biamp Tesira, BSS).

  • Experience with digital signage, video walls, or broadcast equipment.


Typical Work Environment

  • Frequent travel to client locations.

  • Work on commercial sites, office spaces, conference centers, educational institutions, or entertainment venues.

  • Combination of hands-on installation work and technical support.
