Compensation range: $22-24/hr + Tips

Position Summary

The Café Attendant’s job is to provide exceptional hospitality and service to guests in a flexible & dynamic all day multi-use space, from coffee service to co-working lunches to evening food & bar service, and private events. They ensure high quality service while exceeding guest expectations, always providing radical hospitality.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty listed below.  Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Provide excellent customer service by being readily available/approachable to all guests;
  • Greet & take orders from guests, run the point-of-sale system;
  • Make beverage orders from guests, from coffee to cocktails, in a busy & faced-paced environment;
  • Learn relevant food recipes, execute and plate food according to the standards set in place;
  • Serve food to guests, and participate in all aspects of service, as needed;
  • Learn about retail sales and become familiar with the product range available to sell to guests;
  • Sell and book meeting rooms;
  • Prepare and package catering requests and deliver orders to businesses in the building;
  • Learn and provide excellent food & beverage services for corporate buyouts and banquets;
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and tidy workspace, practicing proper food safety;
  • Maintain storage organization, including but not limited to storing food products according to health & safety regulations, stocking and rotating displays of food including pastries and retail food, stocking the cold case, stocking retail beverages, etc.;
  • Perform all opening, side work and closing and cleaning duties;
  • Learn and cover shifts at companion sites;
  • Maintain an upbeat and friendly attitude while interacting with customers and staff alike;
  • Be a team player with the ability to take direction and feedback from other staff and management;
  • Be a self-starter who contributes to a productive and dynamic work environment through self-guidance, training, and an eagerness to learn;
  • All other duties, as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

  • Strong knowledge of all menus, including all food & beverage offerings;
  • Confidence in answering any guest questions regarding the menus;
  • Willingness to learn and grow through ongoing education;
  • Ability to receive feedback & improve a little bit every day.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a customer facing role, preferably within the service industry.
  • Food handlers’ & MAST permits required to apply for the position.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Open availability during all working days.

The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Regularly works with others face to face, over the phone and email in an office environment with moderate noise.  Nature of work may require time spent out of the office; reliable transportation required.  Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust, and dirt.  Must be able to climb up into and down from delivery trucks and walk up and down ramps where required.
