Compensation range: $78,280.00K - $89,462.00K/Annually

Position Summary

Location:  San Jose CA, On-Site, Surrounding Bay Area

Shift: Day Shift, Monday - Friday

 

This is a career level design position that requires working both independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop creative interior space solutions that meet customer needs. The position requires engaging with customers to gather project information (ticketing systems, meetings, data collection, observations), perform field verifications, space planning, furniture and material selections, product specification, and quality assurance. The Designer will be involved in design projects and related tasks from inception to final installation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project information through various forms of communication.
  • Conduct product research and contact vendors for pricing and information.
  • Utilize existing ancillary furniture through warehouse inventory systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors and clients to gather project information and identify customer challenges.
  • Perform field measurements and inventory existing site products.
  • Specify furniture and finishes required per final layouts.
  • Produce and present design concepts to customers.
  • Generate, organize, and maintain CAD files.
  • Produce and revise furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specification, and installation drawings.
  • Curate artwork and decor selections. Style shelving onsite for installation as required per project.
  • Develop validation packages and spreadsheets.
  • Delegate and coordinate independently with Design support teams.
  • Estimate budgetary hours and manage and monitor project hours.
  • Prepare design budgets and design proposals.
  • Oversee individual tasks and duties as well as overall project results and outcomes.
  • Track and manage time entries daily.

 

Education/Experience


Bachelor’s Degree in Interior or Architectural Design. An Associate Art’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college will be considered, with at least 5 years related design experience. Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) or National Architecture Board (NAB) accreditation preferred. Prior experience with system furniture products is a plus. One or more professional certifications is encouraged: NCIDQ, CID, LEED AP, WELL AP, EDAC, 6 Sigma, PMI, etc.

  • Professional knowledge of commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.
  • Professional proficiency in a variety of software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CET Designer, 20/20 CAP, Adobe
  • Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign encouraged.
  • Professional ability to apply Interior Design principles, to include texture, color, form, function, materiality balance, rhythm, repetition, proximity, symmetry, biophilia, cognition and perception.
  • Professional understanding of building codes, regulations, ADA.
  • Ability to apply commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, deadline driven, ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to draw/sketch by hand.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with ability to provide solutions to client needs.
  • Complex reading and writing skills, basic math skills, judgment/decision making.


Physical Requirements

  • Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity, and ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices, ability to get to project sites.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Judgement/decision making, analysis/comprehension.

Working Environment

 

Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise. Nature of work may require time spent out of the office at client location or other One Workplace offices. Reliable access to transportation required. Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust, and dirt.
