Compensation range: $78,280.00K - $89,462.00K/Annually

Position Summary

Location:  San Francisco, On-Site at a Client Site, Bay Area

Shift: Day Shift Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm and/or depending on project shedules

 

This is a career-level design position that requires the ability to work with both internal and external partners to develop innovative interior space solutions that meet customer needs. The role requires collaboration with customers to determine project requirements. This is done through a variety of methods, including ticketing systems, meetings, data collection, and on-site observations. Additional responsibilities include field verification, space planning, furniture and material selection, product specification, delivery coordination, and quality assurance. The designer will be involved in all stages of design projects, from initial concept to final installation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project information from various communication sources.
  • Research products and contact vendors for pricing and information.
  • Work with vendors and clients to collect project information and understand customer needs.
  • Perform field measurements and product inventory at existing sites.
  • Specify furniture and finishes per final layouts.
  • Create and present design concepts to customers.
  • Produce, organize, and maintain CAD files.
  • Create and update design drawings, including furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, and installation drawings.
  • Select artwork and decor. Style shelving onsite for installation as required per project.
  • Develop validation packages and spreadsheets.
  • Independently delegate and coordinate with Design support teams.
  • Estimate, manage, and monitor budgetary hours and project hours.
  • Prepare design budgets and proposals.
  • Take responsibility for individual tasks and duties as well as overall project outcomes.
  • Mentor other designers and assist in the on-boarding process.
  • Track and manage time entries daily.

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior or Architectural Design; Associate Art’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college will be considered, with at least 5 years related design experience.
  • Prior Project Management experience a bonus.
  • Experience with system furniture products.
  • One or more professional certifications encouraged: NCIDQ, CID, LEED AP, WELL AP, EDAC, 6 Sigma, PMI, etc.

  • Professional proficiency in a variety of software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, Google Suite. CET Designer, 20/20 CAP, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are encouraged.
  • Professional ability to apply Interior Design principles, including texture, color, form, function, materiality balance, rhythm, repetition, proximity, symmetry, biophilia, cognition, and perception.
  • Professional understanding of building codes, regulations, ADA.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to draw and sketch by hand.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with ability to develop solutions to client needs.
  • Complex reading and writing skills, basic math skills, judgment/decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity, and ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices.
  • Ability to get to project sites.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Judgement/decision making, analysis/comprehension.

Working Environment

Generally works in an office environment with moderate noise. May require time spent out of the office at client locations or other company offices. Reliable access to transportation is required. Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust, and dirt.
