Compensation range: $88,777K - $97,777K/Annually

Position Summary

Location: South Seattle, WA (Georgetown)

Day Shift: Full-time, Monday - Friday

 

The Design Lead I is a first-level leadership role and serves as part of the design leadership team. The Design Lead I mentor and lead a team of designers and interns on the completion of various projects and initiatives. This role will oversee day-to-day tasks, duties and responsibilities, workloads, and guides personnel issues. This role will collaborate with Design team leadership and take ownership of specific initiatives and process improvements. This role involves a high degree of customer engagement, creative decision making, non-linear decision making and autonomous project ownership. The Design Lead I own the project conception and guides the client all along the way.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • First-level leadership responsibilities include managing design team workloads, workflow, and utilization.
  • Manage standards, processes, and quality assurance for key projects and engagement
  • Serve as a coach to designers encouraging professional development and growth while providing feedback and assessment.
  • Lead design discovery, workshops and co-creation sessions and engagements with project stakeholders, to gather project information and client needs (surveys, interviews, data collection, observations) and to uncover customer challenges.
  • Conducts quarterly review reports for quarterly business meetings.
  • Influence, inspire, and guide solutions and deliverables from supporting team members.
  • Develop validation packages and spreadsheets.
  • Estimate budgetary hours and manage and monitor project hours.
  • Responsible for individual tasks and duties as well as overall project results, outcomes, and direction of team members.
  • Direct on-boarding for team members in partnership with Design Training & Development.
  • Lead internal, external projects and process improvement initiatives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior or architectural design, preferred. A minimum 8+ years related design experience.
  • Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) or National Architecture Board (NAB) accreditation preferred.
  • One or more professional certifications required: NCIDQ, CID, LEED AP, WELL AP, EDAC, 6 Sigma, PMI, etc
  • Advanced proficiency in a variety of software: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office. CET Designer, Adobe Creative desired.
  • Complex reading, writing, judgement/decision making, analysis/comprehension skills.
  • Attend industry events and peer networking opportunities.
  • Expert level knowledge of commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.
  • Expert level understanding of building codes, regulations, ADA
  • Must possess the ability to draw/sketch by hand.
