Overview/Position Summary

Serves as OWP’s primary specialist in lab furniture products and solutions.  Functions as the primary expert and point of contact internally and externally to develop business and partnerships in a new market segment.  Works both independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop creative lab solutions solutions to meet customer needs.  Engages with customers at a high level to gather programmatic information, develop business relationships, and solve complex problems. Involved in elements of business development, customer engagement, design and implementation of lab projects and related tasks from inception to final installation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with internal and external partners to manage existing lab partnerships, projects, accounts and customers to ensure client satisfaction and on-going business relationships.

  • Stay current with key trends and important issues in the lab market.
  • In partnership with Leadership & Marketing teams, establish strategy and tactics to engage and grow business in the lab market.

  •  Produce and present design concepts to internal and external clients
  •  In partnership with internal resources and external partners, produce lab furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, finish boards and installation drawings.
  • Perform field verifications and conduct product inventories.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university preferred; or AA degree
  • 3 - 5 years' related sales or design experience. 
  • Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) preferred. Experience in bio tech, lab furniture or associated functions and/or specialties a plus. 

 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must be self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills with ability to ask pertinent questions to determine client needs
  • Knowledge of manufacturer’s product and application
  • General understanding of business practices, structures and philosophies, with ability to determine pricing and discounting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, CET Designer, 20/20 CAP and SketchUP
  • Ability to apply logical reasoning, creative problem solving and sound business judgment
  • Must be assertive, flexible, and have a strong sense of urgency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present products and services
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment that includes a high degree of detail work
  • Ability to interface with clients, vendors and all internal departments with minimum supervision and/or direction
  •  Reliable transportation in order to visit client sites

 

Physical Requirements

  • Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, and hand and finger dexterity.
  • Complex reading and writing skills, basic math skills, judgment/decision making, analysis/comprehension.

Working Environment

  • Regularly works with others face to face, over the phone and through email.
  • Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise.  Work involves traveling to client sites.
  • May work around moving objects, dust and dirt while on a project site.
  • May work from home or other remote sites as appropriate.
