    Interioir Designer | Space Planner- Workplace Studio

    Santa Clara, CA



    The Designer/ Space Planner works on design projects that involve direct contact with sales staff, project managers or clients of One Workplace. The ideal candidate must be committed to understanding the need for and producing accurate work in an expedient manner. Must work well in deadline driven industry and have ability to provide friendly, professional service to One Workplace staff and clients. Must have an interest in influencing corporate work environments that impact daily lives through engaging and fulfilling workspace.



    • Meet with customers to gather project information (surveys, interviews, data collection, observations)
    • Ownership for project deliverables; strong communications and time management skills
    • Perform field verification, product inventory and product research
    • Produce and present design concepts to internal and external clients
    • Produce furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, and installation drawings
    • May participate in preparing design proposals
    • Manage project hours
    • May perform project audits for other designers
    • Serve as mentor to other designers as determined by level of experience






    • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university or An Associate Arts Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school will be considered
    • 5 plus years’ design experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accreditation preferred
    • Prior experience with system furniture products a plus



    • Proficiency in a variety of software: AutoCAD, CET Designer, 20/20 CAP, SketchUp
    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks at a time to deliver and meet goals on deadline
    • Knowledge of Steelcase products a plus
    • Exceptional Customer Service skills with a passion to provide solutions to client needs
    • You can expect to: stand and sit for extended periods; operate computers, and other ancillary office equipment
    • You like communicating with others through face-to-face interaction
    • High attention to detail and a keen eye for interior design, fabrics, space planning and graphics
    • Understanding of and respect for the role of the client with the OWP business unit
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to transportation to client sites around the Bay Area


    Physical Requirements

    • Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity, and ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices, ability to get to project sites
    • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

    Working Environment

    • Regularly works alone or may with others face to face, over the phone and through email
    • Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise
    • Nature of work may require time spent out of the office
