    Senior Design Consultant

    Santa Clara, CA


    The Senior Design Consultant manages and mentors a team of designers and leads design projects that involve direct contact with sales staff, project managers or clients of One Workplace. The Senior Design Consultant will provide high-level and high-touch solutions for clients often requiring creative problem solving, design thinking, and a deep understanding of the clients’ organization, mission, or business. The Senior Design Consultant may provide full service interior design solutions ranging from furniture selection and space planning to interior architectural design, environmental graphic design, and or strategic planning.

    The ideal candidate must have intimate knowledge of corporate workplace strategies and requires the ability to facilitate collaborations with internal and external leaders. Must be committed to understanding the need for and producing accurate work in an expedient manner. Must work well in a deadline driven industry and have ability to provide friendly, professional service to One Workplace staff and clients. Must have an interest in influencing corporate work environments that impact daily lives through engaging and fulfilling workspace. NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) certification or California CID (Certified Interior Designer) certification also encouraged.


    • Manage team member mentorship, professional development, and growth
    • Manage design team productivity, workloads, and task assignments
    • Manage/approve team member time off requests and expense reports
    • Standardize and manage standards, processes, and quality assurance
    • Approve design related Open Issues charges and credits
    • Develop ancillary product and application solutions
    • Specify, budget, price and quote ancillary products and applications
    • Curate a library of amazing ancillary and decorative items to support Workplace Studio Design and Corporate divisions
    • Lead customer engagement activities
    • Build strong relationships with key clients and partners
    • Conduct proprietary research
    • Lead workshops and presentations
    • Meet with customers to gather project information (surveys, interviews, data collection, observations)
    • Perform field verification, product inventory and product research
    • Produce and present design concepts to internal and external clients
    • Produce furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, installation drawings, interior conceptual drawings and interior design specifications
    • Prepare design proposals and contracts
    • Manage projects and project hours
    • May perform project audits for other design consultants
    • Serve as mentor to other design interns, Junior designers, designers, and design consultants as determined by level of experience 





    • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university
    • 8 + years’ design experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • A Master’s Degree (MFA, MBA or equivalent) is preferred; Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) accreditation preferred  



    • Advanced proficiency in a variety of software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, Premier)
    • Certifications for NCIDQ, CID, LEED, WELL AP, EDAC, or similar are highly desirable
    • Graphic design ability is highly desirable
    • Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple programs at a time to deliver on deadline
    • Knowledge of Steelcase products a plus
    • Exceptional Customer Service skills with a passion to provide solutions to client needs

    Physical Requirements:

    • You can expect to: stand and sit for extended periods; operate computers, and other ancillary office equipment
    • You like communicating with others through face-to-face interaction
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to transportation to client sites around the Bay Area
    • You’ll enjoy working in an office environment with moderate noise
    • Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, touching (dexterity)
    • Complex reading and writing skills, basic math skills, judgment/decision making, analysis/comprehension
