    Commercial Furniture Project Manager / Planner /  Design - Service Sales

    San Francisco Bay Area


    Overview/Position Summary

    Act as single point of contact on MAC and Move Management projects. Will also manage the project from evaluation, preparation of quotation, scheduling and onsite supervision through project completion.



    • Act as main point of contact for customer for all project communications during the project process
    • Coordinate all labor; delivery, installation, refurb, etc. and supply paper work to schedule each group
    • Manage installation in the field, including coordinating with trades, building managers and client walk-through
    • Organize projects – including certificate of insurance, labor quotes job files and P.I. meetings. Interface with vendors to understand product offerings, negotiate discounting terms and insure product availability
    • Manage accurate and detailed project files to include key project decisions and customer/project requests/revisions
    • Meet end users, facilities managers, architects, etc. and act as sales for service projects and/or local sales for selling dealers (Network) supply cut sheets, spec guides, finish samples etc
    • Develop and resolve open issues/punch list, and complete close out documentation
    • Quote and negotiate pricing for non-Steelcase work and services
    • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and billing. Manage project expenses to ensure financial targets are achieved
    • Attend and participate in all project, construction and /or design meetings as required, as well as team and company meetings
    • Assist client and designer with product selection, specification development and MAC planning
    • Independent work style; flexible hours and 50% travel
    • Must have reliable transportation of travel between jobs





    • Associate Arts Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
    • Five plus years related experience



    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects assignments.
    • Extensive industry knowledge
    • Experience with interior design, AutoCAD, etc. is a plus
    • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and perform spec checks
    • Proficient in Word, Excel and Access with ability to learn internal systems
    • Proficiency in a variety of software: Microsoft office suite, CRM experience desirable
    • High level of experience around managing tasks and teams, critical dates, clients and third party relations
    • Comfortable with intermittent workloads, unusual hours and significant time spent out of the office
    • Responsible for exercising prudent judgement with minimal guidance, performance quality, customer satisfaction and budgeting and project administration

     Physical Requirements

    • Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, and hand and finger dexterity
    • Complex reading and writing skills, basic math skills, judgment/decision making, analysis/comprehension


    Working Environment

    • Regularly works alone or with other, has verbal and face to face contact
    • Occasionally has shift work, works outside in extreme heat or extreme cold
    • May work around mechanical or electrical equipment, moving objects, fumes/odors and/or dirt/dust
    • Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise
