Audio Visual Field Technician

Position Summary/Overview

Provides ongoing technical and operational support of audio visual equipment and systems, as well as service and maintenance. Responsible for setting up, installing, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment, to include operating, maintaining, distributing, installing, configuring, repairing and upgrading various electronic products while ensuring their optimal performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality telephone and in person AV/VC support
  • Perform remote and onsite troubleshooting of installed systems
  • Diagnose, repair and test AV Systems and associated equipment
  • Install and replace hardware components
  • Perform system configuration, leveling and wiring
  • Load and retrieve software configurations and programming files
  • Document and track project activities and service requests
  • Track metrics, including timely closure of all assigned support requests
  • Process RMA requests
  • Conduct end-user training of system functionality and usage

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in AV/VC industry; or combination of education and relevant technical experience InfoComm, CTS, Polycom, Cisco, Crestron AMX, BiAmp, ClearOne certifications and/or experience desired

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of AV/VC technologies to include the ability to perform testing, analyses, and corrective action in a professional environment
  • Knowledge of all wire and connector types on all AV related cabling
  • Proficient terminating and troubleshooting of AV cabling
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients
  • Complex reading and writing skills, basic math skills
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast paced, high volume environment

 

Physical Requirements

  • Seeing, color and depth perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, touching, ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices, ability to mount and dismount forklift/truck, pushing/pulling
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License and insurance with ability to drive company service vehicle
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

 Work Environment

  • Regularly works with others; works inside or outside and around mechanical equipment and moving objects
  • Usually work is performed at client location
  • May be required to work different shifts and work hours; may work alone or with a team; in moderate heat or cold, around electrical equipment, fumes/odors and/or dirt/dust
  • Generally, works around moderate noises such as, trucks, forklifts, and power hand tools
