Overview/Position Summary

Works directly with One Workplace Design Leadership and the Training Team at Studio West to provide ongoing employee professional development training, as well as new hire onboarding and mentorship. Partners with Design leadership to accomplish One Workplace business and strategic objectives.



  • Assess, plan, and design new hire onboarding, mentorship and professional development courses for employees
  • Research, design, and develop impactful and exciting instructor-led, virtual, and experiential learning offerings that appeal to team members
  • Create impactful and meaningful lessons that help employees develop their technical, professional, and leadership skills
  • Provide support and coaching to Designers during training and, if needed, after the completion of training
  • Accountable for employee satisfaction with training. Schedule, prepare, and deliver training, as well as participate in efforts to constantly look for opportunities to improve design performance, improve current process and communicate their ideas to their team lead or manager regularly
  • Direct structured learning experiences and monitor the quality of results
  • Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees work behavior
  • Quality Assurance for all design deliverables
  • Coordinate vendor presentations in partnership with Strategic Sourcing Manager
  • Stay current on Learning and Development Best Practices to ensure new training methods and techniques
  • Measure the success, employee satisfaction rates and return on investment of training programs and provide feedback to Design Leadership team




  • BA (required) in Interior Design, Instructional Design, Training, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, Communication, or relevant field
  • At least 3 years’ work experience as an Interior Designer, Commercial Furnishings Specifier, Training Coordinator, Trainer, Training Facilitator or similar role


  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to instruct, facilitate, and present trainings, workshops and meetings
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles desired
  • Knowledge of training practices and policies and a thorough understanding of systems that support those functions desired
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, excel and presentation software
  • Knowledge of Steelcase products/Design field is a plus
  • Patient, trustworthy and respectful in demeanor with a capacity for empathy for others
  • Willingness to both serve and advocate for team members
  • Ownership for team member professional development and growth
  • Ownership for project deliverables with strong project management skills
  • Understanding of and respect for the role of the client with the One Workplace business unit
  • Ability to engage in a positive and collaborative manner
  • Creative problem-solving skills with ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Understand the requirements for each training/class while strictly adhering to One Workplace and client requirements

 Physical Requirements

  •  Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity, and ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Complex reading and writing skills, basic math skills, judgment/decision making, analysis/comprehension

Working Environment

  • Regularly works with others face to face, over the phone and through email
  • Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise
  • Nature of work may require time spent out of the office
  • Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust and dirt
